Summer is a fantastic time to pack up and head out to your Ocean City condo. There’s so much to do along the Maryland and Delaware Eastern Shore! With a 10-mile beachfront, a 3-mile boardwalk, and more restaurants and shops than you can imagine, there’s never a shortage of sources for fun and relaxation. Now that we’re in the heat of the summer season, the energy in Ocean City is palpable. In fact, activity really peaks around the Fourth of July. So, if you’re going to be in Ocean City next week, you’re in for a real treat. The city hosts two spectacular Independence Day celebrations, both with concerts and fireworks.
Whether you’re Uptown or Downtown, you don’t have to travel far to experience the Fourth of July in Ocean City. Those who decide to celebrate on the South end of town will be able to take in the sights, sounds, smells, and delicious flavors of Ocean City’s famous Boardwalk. Before you snag a spot on the North Division Street beach, peruse an endless array of traditional American food such as pizza, burgers, hotdogs, and ice cream for sale by local vendors. Then, relax in to your beach chair or blanket in anticipation of the gorgeous firework display at 9:30pm.
Another spot to catch a fantastic firework display is at Northside Park on 125th Street. This is a great option if you happen to live in the Uptown area or want avoid the large tourist population at the beach. However, those planning to claim a spot in the park should plan to arrive early with their beach chairs, snacks, and refreshments as there will be a significant crowd. Just like it’s downtown counterpart, the Uptown fireworks will begin at 9:30pm, which will be preceded by live musical entertainment at 8:00pm.
If fighting the crowds to see the fireworks at either location isn’t in the cards for you this Independence Day, throw a Fourth of July bash at your Ocean City home! Most of the action downtown and at Northside Park begins in the evening, so you can still get your fill of the gorgeous beach during the day. Fire up the grill and invite your neighbors over for a good old-fashioned barbecue as the sun goes down, and maybe even catch a glimpse of the firework displays from your own backyard.
