It’s definitely starting to feel like fall here on Maryland and Delaware’s Eastern Shore. Where has the time gone? It seems like just yesterday we were soaking up the sun and enjoying balmy summer nights on Ocean City’s famous boardwalk. Though the action has slowed down quite a bit over the last several months, there’s still plenty to see and do all around town. As you start finalizing your travel plans for the weeks surrounding Thanksgiving, reference our guide below for a fun-filled, fall getaway on Maryland and Delaware’s Eastern Shore.
Winterfest of Lights
November 21, 2013 – January 1, 2014
Head over to Northside Park for Winterfest of Lights; a winter wonderland of sparkling holiday lights beginning November 21st. Take a quick break to warm up with some hot chocolate in the heated Winterfest Village pavilion, browse Yukon Cornelius’ gift shop, and have a photo taken with Santa.
Turkey Trot Golf Tournament
November 23, 2013
This may be your last opportunity to golf before the winter weather arrives! Grab three friends and sign up for the Turkey Trot Golf Tournament at Eagle’s Landing Golf Course. True to the tournament name, this four-player scramble will end with a delicious turkey dinner.
Holiday Horse & Carriage Rides
November 29, 2013 – December 14, 2013
The entire family will enjoy a holiday horse and carriage ride through Ocean City. Gather at Sunset Park at the south end of Baltimore Avenue between 5pm and 7pm on November 29th and 30th, and on December 6th, 7th, 13th and 14th. Then, stick around and enjoy the festivities at Light Up Downtown.
Light Up Downtown
November 29, 2013 – December 14, 2013
Kick off the holiday season in downtown Ocean City at Light Up Downtown. Holiday lights, music, and performances will get you in the spirit, as will a visit from Santa (don’t forget to bring your letters for Santa’s Mail Box). Visitors are also encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots.
Holiday Shopper’s Fair
November 29, 2013 – December 1, 2013
The Ocean City Convention Center will host a Holiday Shopper’s Fair the weekend immediately following Thanksgiving. Skip the Black Friday crowds and shop local as you browse a selection of photography, jewelry, toys, candles, and more. This is the perfect opportunity to jumpstart your holiday shopping!
Although the temperature is cooling down on Maryland and Delaware’s Eastern Shore, the opportunities for exploring Ocean City are just heating up. With all of the fun events going on to kick off the holiday season, you might be tempted to extend your stay! If you decided to buy an Ocean City condo earlier this year, we hope you enjoy hosting your first holiday in your new home. From all of us at McNamara & Associates, Happy Thanksgiving!
