Summer is just about here in Ocean City and many homeowners will be returning to their vacation homes (or preparing to buy a new home or condo!) for the season. But before you can settle into your summer beach getaway, there may be a few tasks you should check off your to-do list to really prep the property for the months ahead. As you make your way back to Maryland and Delaware’s Eastern Shore, consider the following home improvement updates or curb appeal projects that will make your Ocean City condo the envy of the neighborhood:
Welcoming Entry
You’ve just come back to enjoy life near the boardwalk or perhaps you’ve just purchased an Ocean City condo to kick off the season. The first project to tackle begins at the front door. Take a walk up the door, what catches your eye? Is there a clear path for guests? Does the front door need replacing? Does the landscaping look less than stellar? These are easy updates that you can complete in a weekend! Give the front door a new coat of paint, in a beach-inspired hue, or replace the door entirely. Take a few days to plant new flowers around your Maryland and Delaware vacation home‘s entryway or tend to those bushes, trees and shrubs that may be overgrown. Make sure there is a clear path to the door. These projects can do wonders for creating a welcoming entryway to your home.
Brighten It Up
Once inside your Ocean City condo, you may notice things are not as welcoming or bright as they could be. Now is the time to give your spaces a fresh coat of paint and stick to neutral or bright colors. During the summer season, with all of the sunshine, a bright paint color can bring more life to your home. You can also change out your window coverings to allow for more light inside. Your current window coverings may have faded over the past few months or perhaps they’re just outdated. Swap these out for new this summer and while you’re at it, be sure the windows are in working order. If not, you may need to consult your homeowner’s association before replacing or if you own your Ocean City vacation home, see if a window replacement project is in the cards.
Outdoor Entertaining
Summer is a great season for entertaining your friends and family on Maryland and Delaware’s Eastern Shore. Now is the time to bring out your new patio furniture or spruce up those pieces that you currently have. Give your wooden chairs a fresh coat of paint or give that glass table a deep cleaning. A larger, more time-consuming project that can blast away the effects of the winter on your patio is power washing. You can take on the task yourself or rent out the service. Power wash your driveway, deck, patio and even the exterior of your home. Not only does this wash away any signs of a harsh winter, but it gives your home a fresh, clean feel. Complete the look by bringing waterproof cushions and pillows to your outdoor entertaining space and get ready to enjoy the summer at your newly-updated Ocean City home.
